Benefits
The immediate benefits to becoming a PMC club member are being able to book onto our meets and attend our socials; meeting other club members to share mountaineering activities with lift-sharing, along with access to our contact list, and quarterly newsletter.
As well as these immediate benefits of joining the club, as an affiliate member of Mountaineering Scotland you are entitled to the following benefits.
- £20m liability insurance for your mountaineering activities
- Discounts on outdoor gear including 40% off Osprey backpacks, 15% off Nevsiport, Cotswold Outdoors and Craigdon Mountain Sports and 10% off at Tiso stores
- Access to low cost accommodation in club huts including reciprocal discount to SMC club huts set at 35% (excluding. CIC hut in winter)
- Access to Training courses run by Mountaineering Scotland
- Eligibility to BMC adventure travel insurance (additional costs apply)
Application Process
Prospective members are invited to participate in several of the Clubs meets (evening, day or weekend) before applying for membership. We recommend attending up to four meets and require a minimum of one prior to applying for membership.
The minimum age for membership age is 18.
Applications for membership should be submitted to the club on the appropriate form. Applications for membership are subject to approval by the Club’s committee. Once your application is approved, payment of membership fees will be requested prior to your membership being registered with Mountaineering Scotland and considered active.
Paid-up members are covered by third party liability insurance provided through the Club’s affiliation to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland. Members may bring guests to Club meets but should ensure they are made aware that they are responsible for their own safety.
