Meets

Perth Mountaineering Club Meets

The club meets regularly all year, with regular midweek climbing on a Wednesday, either indoor or outside, hillwallking and mountaineering trips at the weekend, and a weekend trip to a hut to enjoy some more distant adventures at least once a month. Club members get notified of upcoming meets in the club's quarterly newsletter, via email and through the club's WhatsApp group.

While we are not a training club, we will always do our best to accommodate you regardless of your level of experience. If you are interested in joining the club, we would love you to join us on of the meets. You can view our upcoming scheduled meets on our upcoming meets page, or contact us to find out about what we do.

Evening Climbing

Club members meet for Indoor climbing at the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing Climbing wall at UHI, Perth every Wednesday evening throughout the year. These nights are always very well attended and it’s a great way to get to know the club. People generally arrive from 6pm onwards.

During the summer the club also meets on a Wednesday for outdoor climbing at a local crag. We visit a different venue every week, and visit local trad, sport and bouldering venues.

Day Meets

The Club also plans regular day meets where club members can visit areas a little closer to home.

Activities can range from pleasant summer hill walking days to serious winter climbing routes, however we always try to adjust the plan based on the preferences and abilities of the people who want to attend – and of course the weather!

Weekend Meets

The Club books a mountaineering hut or hostel for a weekend in a different area of Scotland every month, allowing club members to visit many different areas of Scotland for walking and climbing over the year.

Popular huts include the Lagangarbh Hut in the heart of Glencoe, the Glen Brittle Memorial Hut on Skye and the CIC hut, halfway up Ben Nevis.

These weekends are a great way to visit some of the greatest outdoors areas of Scotland, and we try to choose huts that allow access to a wide variety of activities. The huts are usually booked for both Friday and Saturday night and normally cost in the region of £15 – £25 per night.

Informal and Ad-hoc Meets

Many club members also arrange informal meets, whether that be a quick trip to the local climbing wall or an ice climbing expedition to Norway.

The club has very active WhatsApp and email groups that make it easy to find a partner to go climbing with at the last minute almost any day of the year!
