Milehouse Meet 2018

Nine members attended a very active and sociable meet at Milehouse.
Paul, Paul,Stephen,Keith,Craig and Wendy spent a most enjoyable day in good winter conditions with a mixture of sunshine and squalls completing the round of the Newtonmore munros starting with the outlier, Carn Dearg and working their way clockwise round the Plateau to include Carn Sgulain and A Chailleach. Carn Dearg was ascended by a ‘sporting route’ up the South East ridge.

On return to Milehouse the group was welcomed by a warm fire and Vicky who had been up to the Pools of Dee via the Chalamain Gap along with Mike and Irene who had just arrived. A communal meal was much appreciated with a selection of curry and vegetarian chilli and a good chance to share adventures past and present.
After cleaning duties On Sunday parties split up to complete different objectives. Karin arrived to join the group of Wendy,Craig, Paul and Keith who had plans to climb the Fiacaill ridge. Paul G set off to run from Loch an Eilein on a trail linking up with Loch Morlich. Irene and Mike went in search of ice climbing possibilities in Lurcher’s Gully.
Clear weather conditions allowed two groups to climb up to the ridge from Coire an t-Sneachda by another ‘sporting route’ and spend an entertaining day getting to grips with the rocks and ice on Fiacaill ridge before walking round the Corrie rim and descending snow fields down Fiacaill a Choire Chais while watching skiers and snowboarders out to make the most of a most pleasant day.
