An Teallach Mountaineering Club Hut, Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric
Friday 18th to Sunday 20th of May, 2018.
10 PMC members headed up to the delightfully located Strawberry Cottage in Glen Affric. The weather forecast was favourable so a few travelled up on the Thursday and did some Munro’s in the Glen on the Friday to get the weekend off to a good start.
Most cycled in up the 5 miles of rough track from the car park at the end of Glen Affric whilst Jeff drove kindly taking everybody’s luggage. Saturday morning was a bit cloudier than predicted but looked promising so all set off a roughly 8am on their various walks. 3 walks were undertaken, the 2 Munro’s of Mullach Fraoch-Choire & A Chralaig to the south. The 3 Munro’s of Sgurr nan Ceathramhnan and Mullach na Dheiragain & An Socach and the 3 Munro’s of Mam Sodhail, Carn Eighe & Beinn Fhionnlaidh plus a couple of tops on the way.
Plenty of food and drink was consumed on the Saturday night (as nobody wanted to carry anything back out) and some enjoyable chat was had.
Sunday morning bought a marked increase in the wind strength and it was agreed that this wouldn’t be pleasurable on top and that most of us were happy enough with the previous day’s efforts. With that agreed a long breakfast was enjoyed before cycling back out to the car park (luckily with the wind behind us).
